Report: Spyker to expose Porsche 911-Fighter at Geneva

Although lately best-known for its investor role inside the melodrama of the Saab wind-down, Dutch automaker Spyker remains to be around, and still making the C8 boutique sports cars. But as appears to be like the case with luxury brands all over the world, Spyker isn’t really content with (or can’t survive on) just selling a handful of exclusive boutique models only in the finances of a select global elite.

According to a report from Dutch media outlet Telegraaf.nl, Spyker CEO Victor Muller is planning a surprise for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show within the type of lower-priced sports car targeted on the Porsche 911. Details at the car are scarce, and Muller isn’t saying much either, quoted by Telegraaf as saying “I say nothing except it’ll surprise you. Come to our conference.”

The Spyker C8 Aileron sells for around $200,000, and is powered by an Audi V-8 engine. The bottom Porsche 911 Carrera starts at $85,250, and the head-of-the-line 911 Turbo S convertible greater than doubles that figure at $173,050.

Production tooling for the recent model has reportedly already been ordered, and is inside the means of being installed on the Spyker plant in Zeewolde. Stay tuned for our coverage of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show for the reveal of the mysterious new Spyker.
