Dodge Resurrects Retro Plum Crazy, Hemi Orange for 2013 Challenger R/T, SRT8
Chrysler is definitely one of the most prolific companies with regards to introducing special edition models, and with decades of history and heritage to tug from for inspiration, it knows just what excites its legions of fans. Since its introduction, the Mopar faithful had wondered when the legendary Plum Crazy paint from the 1970s would make a return to the retro-styled resurrected Challenger. That query was answered in 2010, when it was one of the vital color options at the R/T Classic and SRT8 models. The colour took a two-year hiatus, but is back again for 2013, besides Hemi Orange, which was offered from 2008-2010.
Both colors shall be offered at the R/T and SRT8 models, but configurations and costs will vary slightly between both. Challenger R/T Classic models offer bodyside striping in matte black or white, while the SRT8 has available full-length dual center stripes in Black, Silver or Medium Metallic Gray in a high-gloss finish.
The price for the Plum Crazy paint at the Challenger R/T Classic will start at $34,990, including $995 destination, and the Challenger SRT8 model with the purple hue will start at $45,770, including destination. The Plum Crazy Challengers can be found for order now, and may be on-sale starting in March.
Prices weren’t officially announced yet for the Hemi Orange models, but will go on-sale a number of months later in May.
