2014 Chevrolet SS Sneak-Previewed Down Under with VF Commodore Reveal
We all thought we’d must wait until next weekend’s Daytona 500 to get an up-close analyze the 2014 Chevrolet SS performance sedan. But due to our mates at Holden, we get an early have a look at this highly-anticipated performance sedan, wearing its Aussie duds, within the sort of the VF Commodore. All the anticipated styling elements are there, including the LED strip daytime running lights in front, front fender vents, and the taillight shapes and dual exhausts previewed by the NASCAR body we showed you earlier this weekend.
Still unknown is strictly what’s going to be under the hood of the Chevrolet SS. Information released by Holden provided scant technical information, apart from some bells and whistles be offered at the new model within the kind of park assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and naturally, the MyLink system.
GM North America chief Mark Reuss has said before the Chevrolet SS would be V-8 only, but we’re left guessing as to if the engine often is the port-injected LS3 currently utilized in the Camaro SS and C6 Corvette, or the hot LT1 direct-injected 6.2-liter V-8 engine that’s under the hood of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. We’re hoping, and predicting, it will likely be the latter. Also unknown is whether there’ll be a manual transmission option, or if it will likely be automatic-only, and for that matter, if will probably be a six or eight-speed unit.
Expect these kinds of details at the 2014 Chevrolet SS and more to be revealed inside the weeks ahead, hopefully with more technical detail on the SS’s reveal in Daytona next weekend.
