Jan. Compact Crossover Sales: Ford Escape Starts Strong, Equinox Closes In on CR-V

The Ford Escape might have finished below the Honda CR-V in 2012, but it’s a brand new year, and the Blue Oval -badged crossover has started out strong. In January 2013, the 2013 Escape sold greater than 2000 units above the Honda CR-V.

Not just does the CR-V (17,809 units) have the Escape to stress about, but additionally the Chevrolet Equinox, which was behind the Honda by only 600 units, with 17,223 examples sold. The Toyota RAV4 earned an outstanding spot in fourth place with 11,610 sold, while the Nissan Rogue (8951) and GMC Terrain (8550 units) battled it out for fifth place. The Kodo design-influenced CUV needed to make do with ninth place (5344 units), however the fight will only get tougher when the retouched 2014 Patriot goes on sale later this year. Completing the pinnacle 10 most sold crossovers in January was the Hyundai Tucson, selling 3493 examples.
