January Compact Sales: Toyota Corolla Passes Civic for high Spot, Focus is Third
After winning the crown for best-selling compact car during 2012, the Honda Civic finished second during January, with 21,881 units sold. The Toyota Corolla had the next begin to 2013, with 23,822 copies going home to customers, adequate for a primary-place finish in its segment.
The Ford Focus didn’t crest the 20,000 mark, but still took third place with 16,161 total sales. Fourth and fifth place went to the Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra with 14,524 and 12,174 units sold, respectively. Volkswagen managed to sell 10,522 copies of its Jetta sedan and wagon, though we’re curious to determine how the newly launched hybrid variant will affect the four-door’s sales performance through 2013.
