Refreshing or Revolting: 2014 Toyota Tundra

The 2014 Toyota Tundra is the most recent full-size truck to go into the scene with a brand new face. Following the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and the 2014 GMC Sierra ultimately month’s Detroit auto show, it’s now time to peer how the 2014 Tundra stacks up against its predecessor within the styling department.

In a segment wherein most buyers care less about subtlety, Toyota wisely chose to provide the 2014 Tundra bolder styling, especially up front where there are not any lower than three different grille designs, all of that are larger and wider than the outgoing model. We’ll start with both premium trim levels, including the Platinum model, which sports a multi-slated chrome grille that’s framed in much more chrome. Then there’s the brand new 1794 Edition and its unique grille that contains two thick brushed aluminum-like horizontal bars with a thick, metallic gray frame. The Limited model’s grille incorporates a black frame with eight thin silver bars. Toyota says the 2014 Tundra has a brand new three-piece front bumper to scale back replacement and service costs, however it also gives the fascia a more rugged look. Toyota has also fitted the updated Tundra with new headlights with more sharp angles in comparison to the outgoing model.

From the side, front and rear fenders sport sharper creases. Out back, the tailgate has a more pronounced lip on the upper edge and an embossed “Tundra” badge at the lower right side, which nearly reminds us of past trucks when “Toyota” was stamped around the entire gate (now there’s a small “Toyota” badge at the liftgate handle). The taillights was tweaked with a reverse light indicator placed in the midst of the housing.

Contained in the 2014 Tundra, Toyota has made many improvements starting with the instrument panel. Designers have ditched the person, inches-deep binnacles that were likely not visually optimal at certain angles and possibly a pain to dust and keep clean. Now, the dash has a clean layout with a data screen situated inside the center. The frumpy and plump steering wheel inside the outgoing model have been replaced with a total new design that’s sharper. The dashboard is easy yet bold, with thick metallic horizontal accent bars flanking the infotainment screen and HVAC controls. Higher trim levels get simple, yet elegant wood trim that runs along the center of the dashboard. The 1794 Edition and Platinum models get “Lexus-quality” interiors with the previous featuring saddle brown leather and the latter receiving double-stitched diamond-plate leather.

Toyota’s decision to present premium trim levels was in line with the craze of progressively more customers inside the segment who don’t mind ponying up extra money for swanky interiors. That said, the Tundra will still be offered with basic, cloth interiors who people that favor more a more rugged look. That said, do you believe you studied the 2014 Tundra is refreshing or revolting

Last week we featured the 2014 Lexus IS sedan, and greater than 60 comments demonstrate the polarizing opinions voiced in regards to the new sedan. One fan includes mr_president_36117, who said that “although I generally can’t stand Lexus for being too soft, i need to admit that the F Sport is an exceedingly appealing car. I say Refreshing. I love the grille in this model, as it’s the more aggressive Lexus.” Shiddy, however, says the difficulty with the IS is “that front fascia is incredibly bold after which the remainder of the automobile is very bland. The profile is sort of the image of the former gen. It’s just like the design team did front and forgot in regards to the remainder of the auto.”
