Spied: Range Rover Sport Caught inside the Snow
Now that the all-new 2013 Range Rover is in showrooms, it’s time for Land Rover to place the finishing touches at the next Range Rover Sport. A number of you can recall the test mule we caught last summer when it was lapping the Nurburgring during our farewell to our long-term Cadillac CTS-V wagon.
This time around, the variety Rover Sport was snapped inside the snow. The variety Rover Sport’s most distinctive styling feature is its sharply raked tailgate, that’s more visible on this tester in comparison to the only we caught on the ‘Ring. Also visible are the tall, non-functional side vents located behind front fender, equivalent to those found at the 2013 Range Rover. The beltline seems to be slightly higher than the present model, though it’s not quite as dramatic because the smaller Evoque. There’s extra camouflage covering the rear three quarter window and D-pillar, so we may even see something unique in that area once the production version is unveiled.
The 2013 Range Rover sports a brand new front clip with thinner headlights, and it seems that the game may receive similar treatment. Unfortunately, we can’t see much from behind, but dual exhaust tips situated on the periphery of the lower bumper are visible.
As previously reported, powertrain choices will likely encompass both V-8s also present in the 2013 Range Rover, including the 5.0-liter supercharged mill rated at 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque (mated to an eight-speed automatic). We also expect Land Rover to provide a Jaguar-sourced diesel engine and perhaps even its new supercharged V-6. Whether those two engines will make it the States continues to be unknown. That said, the engines may have less weight to lug around due to lightweight aluminum construction. We predict the brand new Range Rover Sport to be more efficient, quicker, and nicer inside when it will definitely reaches U.S. dealerships.
