TRD Dresses Up the Toyota GT86 for U.K. Buyers
TRD has dressed up the Toyota GT86 — known here as the Scion FR-S — for just 250 customers on a unique-edition model that’s only available inside the U.K. The limited-run GT86 TRD goes on sale firstly of March.
Despite TRD’s involvement, this actual Toyota GT86 doesn’t receive any power increases, and Toyota says that acceleration times are clone of a normal car. Instead the upgrades concentrate on visuals: a brand new front lip, new side skirts, 18-inch wheels, a revised rear fascia, and a brand new quad-tip exhaust system. Other dress-up parts comprise a TRD shifter, radiator cap, and fuel-filler cap.
Toyota previously claimed the U.K.-only GT86 TRD would have ten extra horsepower in comparison to the stock car, but those plans seem to have been canceled.
The TRD edition would be offered only in GT86 Black or the Pearl White paint shown in these photos, with either automatic or manual transmissions on offer. The GT86 TRD starts at £31,495 with a manual and £32,995 with an automated transmission, increases of £6500 over the conventional car.
While this TRD-fettled Toyota GT86 is only a limited-run halo model, the Japanese car company is operating on a brand new variant of its rear-drive sports coupe. Toyota announced it can bring a convertible concept to the Geneva Motor Show in March, and claims that it its currently testing open-top GT86 prototypes.
